An Update From Dover
Across the UK we have been moving several projects forward in parallel, testing ideas as always head down here in the studio.
We wanted to share our latest project north of Dover along the Kent coast. Nestled away you will find a steep and verdant site that falls quickly towards the sea. Due to these constraints, our studio work has been focused on how the building meets the ground with control to protect the budget.
We've also been developing the site model alongside sectional studies to understand how the home can rest on this terrain with stability, and where parts of the home can lift and feel a little lighter as the land drops away. As in all our projects, the model gives immediate feedback as we cut, rework, and test variations.
Next we will refine the massing and shape the internal sequence so the arrival and movement through the home let the horizon reveal itself with elemental power.
