Looking back to look forward. Our most popular journal entry of 2020 ‘Eco Homes In Wood’ discussed the tremendous value of building with wood as a sustainable building material.

As our Utsuroi House project emerges from a freezing site in Wiltshire, with the speed of construction evident - we are reminded of the homes embodied values which at its core express low embodied energy, lightness, efficiency and a silent construction process.

The images show the assembly of the Cross-laminated timber (CLT) panels. These are a simple timber component made from gluing layers of wood together to create a strong structural panel. The home sits on a concrete plinth that cantilevers out towards the rolling patchwork fields of England.
