The French Dispatch.

The French Dispatch is a love letter to journalists set in an outpost of an American newspaper in the fictional French city of Ennui-sur-Blasé. Penned by Wes Anderson from a story developed with Jason Schwartzman, Hugo Guinness and Roman Coppola, the film brings to life a collection of tales that featured within the publications pages. Coming to cinemas in October.

Masterpieces in Miniature.

In 2020, Pallant House Gallery asked Wright & Wright architects to design a model art gallery to house original miniature artworks from over 30 of the most exciting contemporary British artists, including John Akomfrah, Tacita Dean, Lubaina Himid, Damien Hirst, Magdalene Odundo, and Gillian Wearing. These works were created during the 2020 coronavirus lockdown – a time when artists could not get to their studios, exhibitions were cancelled, and many people spoke of being creatively blocked.

Solo Haus.

In December 2019, the housing and homelessness charity Shelter composed a report of local authorities’ estimated homeless levels. The numbers were stark – on any given night in 2019, the report estimated that there were approximately 259,372 individuals homeless in England. This figure is made up of 4,677 rough sleepers and 254,695 living in temporary accommodation.

Derived from a desire to help give people the opportunity to rebuild their lives and be a step towards independence, the SoloHaus is a sustainable, efficient and safe home designed to be part of the solution to the homeless crisis.

Neue Grafik.

Neue Grafik was a magazine initiated by designer Josef Müller-Brockmann and published by an editorial collective consisting of him, Richard Paul Lohse, Hans Neuburg und Carlo Vivarelli. Published quarterly from 1958-1965, Neue Grafik was the most important journal responsible for disseminating contemporary and historical Swiss functional design ideas and philosophies. The journal’s sparse cover, rigorous structure and four-column grid (which extends to the interior pages) is designed entirely of text; meant to inform rather than illustrate the issues content. For the first time, a magazine on design was published where the creators determined the content and design collectively, without hierarchy and chief editorial staff. From a historical point of view, Neue Grafik can be seen as a programmatic platform and effective publishing organ of Swiss graphic design, an international authority in its field at the time. The influence of this movement cannot be overstated.
