People talk as though artists, designers and craftsmen are 1000 miles apart in thought pattern and ideology. There’s more of an interesting interplay going on between them all and woodworker Toshifumi Momose shows it most beautifully in his collaboration collection with Japanese industrial designer Keita Hanazawa.

For Sale: 10 Regent’s Park Road.

Built in 1954-56, number 10 Regent’s Park Road was designed by Hungarian-born architect Ernö Goldfinger. Forming part of an important Grade II-listed building designed by Goldfinger, this wonderfully proportioned three-bedroom apartment is located on Regent’s Park Road. The third-floor apartment has a south-facing balcony and access to a beautiful communal garden. The building is one of Goldfinger’s first post-war works, built between 1954-56, and marks the first stage of his progression from the restrained modern classicism of his Willow Road terrace towards the tougher, exposed grid, which was to go on to dominate his later iconic works.

Tokyoids.

In ‘Tokyoids’, architect François Blanciak surveys the robotic faces omnipresent in Tokyo buildings, offering an architectural taxonomy based not on the usual variables—size, material, historical style—but on the observable expressions of buildings. Are the eyes (windows) twinkling, the mouth (door) laughing? Is that balcony a howl of distress? Investigating robot aesthetics through his photographs of fifty buildings, Blanciak argues that the robot face originated in architecture—before the birth of robotics—and has played a central role in architectural history.

Chelsea Gold Medal winning garden designer Angus Thompson has some inspiring projects in his online portfolio. His Oxford studio has built a reputation for creating beautiful, multilayered gardens of quiet elegance. Angus leads on all projects offering a personalised, rigorous design service in close consultation with each client. His uncluttered approach is best described as ‘quietly contemporary’, exploring natural plant communities and materials, with crisp detailing, textural contrast and where possible - water.
