Studio Spelling.

In 2020, artist Rachel Spelling went from painting huge residential murals to painting tiny miniatures on paint charts, and in the process, stumbled upon a space at the exact mid-point between the worlds of art and interiors which she didn’t know existed. Covid put all Rachel’s projects on hold and she found herself at home with a really strong desire to paint walls but no walls left to paint. On one long lockdown day and with a lot of paint charts lying around her house Spelling realised that the tiny colour chips were like perfectly prepped walls, just waiting for a miniature mural.

Keep Green House.

From residential, office and commercial spaces to public spaces such as schools and parks, Solso brings greenery to each and every facet of daily life. Their own office is a space that does not oppose the environment as it is simply placed on the ground. Hirokazu Suemitsu and Yoko of SUEP were asked to make a building that follows nature as much as possible without placing a burden on the land. The building is a row of modules with a width of one space that follows the topography in the horizontal direction.

Cabin ANNA.

In 2016, a young Dutch designer’s world got turned upside down. An article about the cabin he had designed for his mother received global attention following an article in Dezeen, one of the world’s most popular design magazines. Caspar Schols had been playing with ways for people to live closer to nature for a long time, and then came his idea to let the world experience the beauty of nature in a safe and comfortable environment. ANNA Collection brings an elegant and dynamic play between home, nature and people. The cabin is a moving wooden structure where these three aspects merge. It is a womb of comfort and a platform that opens to the elements. In 2023, Schols will craft a limited batch of 10 ANNA Collections.

Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino.

In 2018, the artwork and title of the sixth Arctic Monkeys LP caused much speculation and confusion. It featured a model of the titular hotel sat on top of a reel-to-reel tape recorder. The inspiration came from a photograph of someone in the art department of 2001: A Space Odyssey building the set for the Hilton on the moon. Alex Turner (Arctic Monkeys) focused most of his attention and time not figuring out what TBHC itself looked like, but what the model of the place in the lobby would. One fan, Instagram user Santiago109, decided to make his own miniature replica of the model and shared the plans with everyone.

Vitra Terracotta Pots.

Designed by Vitra in collaboration with French designer Thélonious Goupil, the Terracotta Pots are made of dense fired clay. The column-like forms of the different sized pots serve as pedestals for the plants they hold, elevating them and giving them more presence in the room. The pots come in four sizes. The two smaller models are intended for use on tables or display surfaces, while the larger variants are designed to stand on the floor.
