Dorte Mandrup: Transformations.

Meet the award-winning Danish architect Dorte Mandrup who reflects upon the nature of transforming existing spaces in this short film. Dorte graduated from the Aarhus School of Architecture, Denmark, in 1991. In 2022 Dorte was elected a member of one of Europe’s oldest and most important cultural institutions, Akademie der Künste in Berlin. She has also been named Monocle’s Architect of the year.

Aisle One recently bought to our attention this superb archive of Swiss architecture magazine, Werk. The site contains high-quality scans of issues dating back to 1914.

Barenbrug House.

In the summer of 2021, Creative Director and Product Designer Carl Barenbrug made the decision to plan a house project. The goal over the next four years is to buy a plot of land in Scotland and build a prefabricated, minimalist house designed for living, cooking, sharing, and working. You can follow the journey via his personal site which includes a checklist of the steps required to realise his dream as well as a galleries of inspirational images like the one shown above.

Dig Delve.

Dig Delve is an online magazine focussed on the writing of garden and landscape designer Dan Pearson, with photography by his partner, Huw Morgan, who also edits and contributes recipes and interviews. There are four seasonal issues a year, with stories added to each issue every week.

Analogue + Digital Tools.

We live in a remarkable time where we can marry the haptic joy of analogue drawing on paper with the digital efficiency of vector lines penned on a tablet. The balance here is between the efficiency and magic of drawing on an iPad, versus the natural and motivating force felt when drawing on paper. We find this choice and balance perfect for the way we make buildings.
