Hyde + Hyde News – November

We are delighted to have received planning for a new low carbon home in a truly breathtaking location near the seaside village of Aberporth, in Cardigan Bay, West Wales.

The new home will be for a large family. The architecture is a response to personality, circumstance and memories of childhood, creating substance and meaning for those contained within it.

The material response is without doubt vernacular: black fibre cement tile, knit’s into the soft black slate of adjacent fishing cottages. The concrete base is allowed to weather naturally like the rock that supports it. The ground floor will be in-situ concrete with recycled aggregates. The first floor will be timber frame with an exposed internal roof structure that is as dynamic as the overall roof form, as it quietly responds to the presence of the Atlantic.
