Located in Radyr, a quiet suburb of Cardiff, the spacious and secluded garden surrounds our new layered timber addition to the main property. This addition has the potential to breathe life into the existing ground floor plan. This provides a seamless transition between inside and outside and the internal perception of a much larger functional home.
Taking onboard the limited budget we focused our design development on making the most out of the existing spaces before the need to add space and cost to the project.
Close collaboration with our quantity surveyor allowed us to determine the most efficient structural methodology that would then inspire an honest and elegant solution.
The design is a simple yet powerful solution, providing an elegant contrast to the main house. At night the layered timber over glass reveals a much larger opening reinforcing a sense of home, warmth and comfort.
