oystermouth house

This new home addresses the panoramic view of the bay and that of the iconic mumbles lighthouse on the horizon. The internal programme of the house responds to these two views and our client's unique lifestyle.

As a collector of cars - the objectification of these vehicles as 'objects of desire' - motivated us to create a layered architectural concept that would celebrate this passion, whilst retaining the simplicity of an elegant and contextual architectural object.

Aware of the historical influence of the machine age aesthetic of the 1930's - The central circulation spine of the house is ambitiously defined by the presence of the cars, that can be driven 'directly' into the home.

The buildings external materials, locally sourced limestone and cedar will through time weather naturally; withstanding the constant battering of sea salts and ocean wind.
