The RIBA has been awarding the President's Silver Medals since the 1850s and the awards were established in their current form in 1984.

The aim of these prestigious awards is to promote excellence in the study of architecture, to reward young talent and to encourage architectural debate world-wide.

Kristian Alexander Hyde was nominated in 2002 and his work was exhibited at the RIBA Portland Place, London.
