At Hyde + Hyde Architects each project is assessed on an individual basis to determine the most appropriate sustainable strategies.

Sustainability and climate change at the Royal Institute of British Architects

Code for Sustainable Homes
The Code is an environmental impact rating system for the sustainable design and construction of new homes, and aims to reduce our carbon emissions and setts new standards for energy efficiency. At Hyde + Hyde we now design residential projects to a minimum standard of Code level 3.

EPC's (Energy Performance Certificates)

Energy Performance Certificates (EPC) are being introduced to help improve the energy efficiency of buildings.

The certificate provides 'A' to 'G' ratings for the building, with 'A' being the most energy efficient and 'G' being the least, with the average up to now being 'D'.

Accredited energy assessors produce EPCs alongside an associated report which suggests improvements to make a building more energy efficient.

BREEAM: BRE Environmental Assessment Method

BREEAM is the world's most widely used environmental assessment method for buildings. BREEAM assesses buildings against a set criteria and provides an overall score which will fall within a band providing either a; Pass, Good Very Good, Excellent or Outstanding rating.
