Biography
Kristian Alexander Hyde was born in South Wales in 1977. He was educated at Carmarthenshire College of Technology and Art and Graduated with a first class honours degree in Architecture from the University of Portsmouth in 2000.

During this time he was awarded 'best portfolio + design project' prize; and the Martin Harvey Award for outstanding design work.

After graduating he worked briefly at Hampshire County Council, known for their award winning public buildings. He then travelled to the United States and Canada studying Art, Philosophy and Architecture at the University of Cincinnati in Ohio and went on to work for Anshen + Allen in San Francisco a practice that based its success on the successful extension to Louis Kahn's Salk Institute in La Jolla California.

In 2001 he returned to Europe and conducted an architectural tour visiting various works of architecture in France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Austria and Germany.

He then returned to the UK and worked for the renown London practice Anshen Dyer before returning to Portsmouth School of Architecture to complete his Diploma where he graduated with distinction with a Thesis entitled 'Architecture + the Thinking Poet'. At this time he was awarded the Royal Institute of British Architects South standard for all round excellence. He added the RIBA Skidmore Owings + Merrill travel fellowship to his list of design awards and was nominated for the RIBA presidents Silver Medal. It was at this time he was published in Building Design Magazine's top 100 Students in the UK.

His work has also been published in the Architects Journal and has been exhibited at the RIBA in London.

In 2002 he Joined John Pardey Architects; an award wining practice in the
south and was involved with residential, educational and commercial
work, both for private and public sector clients and was project
architect on numerous contemporary high quality houses.

He registered as an architect after completing his Certificate of
Architectural Practice from Plymouth University. He is now practice
director at Hyde + Hyde Architects and visiting design tutor at the
University of Portsmouth, Bath and visiting critic at the Welsh School
of Architecture.
