Nature's Architecture at Nazaré

"The earth has music for those who listen.”
- William Shakespeare

A Poetic Encounter at Nazaré.

They say never meet your heroes. Maintaining your admiration for them at a distance might be the smart option, but then again, sometimes not; it’s hard to know.

As a surfer, I felt the same with Nazaré, happy for the place that pumps out the biggest waves on the planet to just sit there in the back of my mind. A one-day bucket list kinda thing.

Our recent project in Sintra, on the outskirts of Lisbon, found us a stone’s throw away from this mythic location. For those who chase danger or perhaps seek an insight into another world, this is a good place to start.

The last of the deep winter swells plough through here into golden beaches. While out-back, beyond the swell, a small collection of our species dances with the cosmos; we stand back - humbled by this vastness.

This is a place where metaphysics meets poetry. Danger is here; it’s self-evident, but it’s intertwined with a surreal white noise and a visual beauty that is rarely if ever surpassed. This is nature’s architecture.
