Concrete House

An expression of concrete minimalism, nestled away within the town of Penarth on the outskirts of Cardiff. A home surrounded by mature brick boundaries and the timeless presence of water whereby light, nature and solitude seep into the inner luxury of the space inside. With structural simplicity at its core, the main living space opens up completely to reveal a private garden in the summer. In contrast, during inclement weather, the pool becomes alive – animated by the change and reflections of time. Concrete House allowed us to explore private space and its symbiotic relationship to the city beyond. The outcome, as coined by the Architects Journal – ‘a quiet monumentality’.
